Attract, Don't Chase

Stop chasing. Attract.

Five words I heard once and haven't stopped thinking about since.

The best projects I've worked on found me. Not because I was sitting around waiting. Because I'd built something worth noticing. Shipped work that spoke for itself. Put it where people could see it.

The best relationships started when I wasn't looking. The best ideas arrive in the shower, not the brainstorm. The best poems come at 3 AM, uninvited, unwanted, undeniable.

There's a version of ambition that's all chase. All outbound energy. All pursuit. It works, kind of. You'll catch things. But you'll be exhausted. And you'll always wonder if the thing you caught is the thing you wanted, or just the thing that couldn't run fast enough.

There's another version. Do the work. Build the skill. Become someone worth finding. Then let things come.

That's not passivity. That's the hardest kind of patience there is. It requires you to believe the work matters before anyone else says it does. To keep building when nobody's watching. To trust that the right people will find you if you're worth finding.

I've watched people chase clients, chase clout, chase validation. Running. Always running. And I've watched them catch things they didn't actually want.

I'd rather build something magnetic than run myself into the ground chasing something mediocre.

Stop chasing. Attract.
